The 26th Infantry Division Band of the Massachusetts Army National Guard was deactivated 1 Sep 93 along with the 26th Infantry Division. A colorful ceremony was held 28 Aug 93 at the Massachusetts State house , followed by the retiring of the colors on the Boston Common.  A plot of land rich with the memories of America's first militia, the National Guard.  Along with the Colors of the 26th Division, the Band's  own colors were retired and its music thus faded into the annals of America's military history.  Herein, we hope to recall fond memories of the members and friends of the 26th Division Band, the "Spirit of the YD".
